As for paying off clerics? Which ones?

As for Jimmy, this is just another step in the walkway to his foreign-policy shrine that is bought and paid for by the Arab world. More on that in a later post. Jimmy is far from an honest broker and the "worst that can happen" is the PR victory of a former US president sitting down with them and giving them a PR victory. The deal he "brokered" is basically a litany of assaults on Israel. You're right though, only a crazy person would take that deal.

Yes. Jimmy Carter really is the worst president in US history. If it weren't for him, Iran would still be a pro-West and close ally of the U.S. This is the same Iranian government which is funding much of the terrorism in the M.E.

"This is akin to a former president going to meet with Hitler, Mussolini or Hirihito during the early 1940’s."

Ignoring any political bias here, but with this in mind and the bullet-points that came before it, how does our current strategy of paying off radical Muslim clerics actually IN the war zone in which we're fighting sit with you? And stop to think for a moment where all those cease-fire-funds are probably going (to arm and equip further insurgency).

Is a strategy of negotiated peace between two foreign entities really less palatable than bribery with your tax dollars and mine?

When it comes to Carter, yeah, I agree he'd have better spent his time sitting at home than trying to settle things with Hamas because, frankly, I feel the only way you stop a terrorist is by making the price higher than they're willing to pay. Sure, blow yourself up in front of a school bus... We'll make sure your entire family (including extended family) will be along to see you in heaven shortly. You'll recognize their corpses by the bacon we've hung around their necks.

But as much as I hate the sick sob's who are indiscriminately killing women and children in the twisted name of their religion, I refuse to let my feelings or politics cloud my opinion about somebody who - misguided though he may be - continues to strive for a peaceful solution. Let him tilt at his windmills. What's the worst that could happen? Israel obviously wasnt dumb enough to buy the deal.

"So the worst president in U.S. History ..."

Uh... dude? *points vaguely northeast towards the current Whitehouse occupant*

Wouldn't worry about it too much... letting a liberal former president attempt to establish peace between opposing factions and then discrediting the effort is probably all part of Gee-Dub's masterful strategery. He's a smart one.
